After graduating from Ohio State University in 1978 with a B. S. in Fisheries and Wildlife Management, Dennis has been associated with the gamebird industry. He is a member of the North American Gamebird Association.

In 2000 Dennis, along with his wife Terri, decided to provide upland bird hunting as well as running the Elk Ridge Game Farm which they started in 1981. They purchased a farm adjacent to their current one in 2007. Then purchased another adjacent farm. All together there is over 400 acres of excellent hunting habitat provided. This consists of a mixture of big and little bluestem, indian grass, switchgrass, and food plots of sorghum. A mixture of hardwoods and wind breaks separates the hunting areas. This is ideal for pheasant, Hungarian Partridge, and Chukar Partridge hunting. Other birds can be available by reserving far enough ahead of the hunt date.

Elk Ridge Hunt Club provides guided hunts, or you are welcome to bring your own dogs. With guided hunts, a guide and dogs are furnished to ensure you have a quality hunt every time. After the hunt, take some time to relax in the 38‘ x 48‘ clubhouse. If requested, light lunches are available (donation only). Birds can also be cleaned and bagged for the trip home by request.

Dennis was president of the local Crawford county Pheasants Forever chapter for over 20 years. Pheasants forever works with local landowners to restore natural habitat by taking care of the cost of seed and special nesting grasses and planting the seed. The local Pheasants Forever chapter also host a number of events and sponsors and annual youth pheasant hunt along with Elk Ridge Hunt Club.

In 2022 Dennis and Terry turned the ownership of the operation over to their son and daughter-in-law, Craig and Natalie. Dennis and Terry are staying on to help run the club but wanted a little more time for hunting, fishing, and grandkids. We all have the same goal: to provide the best hunts and service like we always have.
